Plug and socket

  • Type E — two round pins (4.8 mm) plus a side earth contact.
  • Type C (Europlug) — two round pins, fits Type E sockets.
  • Same standard as France, Belgium, much of Europe.

Voltage

  • 230 V, 50 Hz.
  • Laptops/phones with universal chargers (100–240 V) only need a plug adapter.
  • 110 V-only appliances (some US hairdryers, kitchen gadgets) need a voltage converter, not just an adapter.

Adapters

  • Buy a Type E/C adapter before arriving or at any Polish electronics shop (RTV Euro AGD, Media Expert, Żabka sometimes).
  • Universal travel adapters cover Poland.

Power cuts

  • Rare in cities; brief outages during storms.
  • No special backup needed for homes; businesses often have UPS.

Tips

  • Check your device's charger label for "100–240 V" — if yes, only an adapter is needed.
  • Carry one adapter per device; multi-port USB chargers save space.

FAQ

What plug type does Poland use?
Type E (two round pins with a side earth) and Type C (two round pins, no earth). Type E sockets accept Type C plugs.
What is the voltage?
230 V, 50 Hz. Equipment rated for 220–240 V works; 110 V (US/Japan) equipment needs a voltage converter, not just an adapter.
